Early Career
David Villa started his football career with Sporting de Gijón. David Villa made his professional debut in 2000 season in Spain’s Segunda División. He scord 38 goals for Sporting de Gijón in 80 appearances.
Transfer to Real Zaragoza and La Liga Debut
David Villa moved to Real Zaragoza from Sporting de Gijón after two seasons. David Villa made his La Liga debut at Real Zaragoza and the two seasons were successful ones. David Villa scored 31 goals in 73 games and guided the club to win the Copa del Rey and Supercopa de España honors. These were his biggest achievements at senior level.
Transfer to Valencia
David Villa moved to Valencia in 2005 at a fee of €12 million. In his first season at Valencia he became the second highest scorer in La Liga season 2005–06 with 25 goals, and won the Copa del Rey for a second time in the 2007–08 season.
Playing with Spain’s National Team
David Villa is a Spanish international player. He started his international career in 2005 by playing against San Marino. David Villa represented Spain in two major tournaments; 2006 FIFA World Cup at Germany and UEFA Euro 2008 at Austria-Switzerland.
David Villa’s Goals for Spain
David Villa scored three goals in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. David Villa was the top scorer at FIFA Euro 2008 with four goals. In Spain’s national team he played alongside Fernando Torres, they both were key to Spain’s success at Euro 2008. Fernando Torres scored the onlygoal in the final, David Villa was missing that game due to an injury.
