West Ham United could face more penalty
West Ham United could face more penalty after it emerged that up to ten Sheffield United players are pondering legal action over the Tevez affair.
The independent tribunal ruled against West Ham earlier in the week following the Blades claim that Tevez was a central figure in West Ham United’s survival and was ineligible to play at the end of the 2006/2007 season. They are now likely to demand as much as £30m in compensation; the apparent cost of relegation, but West Ham United are planning to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Now West Ham might have to pay more as the number of Sheffield United’s players look to claim compensation on individual basis.
Earlier in this month, West Ham’s Alan Curbishley resigned from manager post. Curbishley’s decision to leave the job was reported as a response to the departures of Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney to Sunderland just moments before the transfer deadline.
